Set up DKIM authentication for email alerts
To improve email deliverability and brand recognition, Filemonk can help you with DKIM authentication for your domain. This article covers the steps you need to take to complete the authentication.
What is DKIM?
DKIM, or DomainKeys Identified Mail, is an email authentication method that uses a digital signature to let the receiver of an email know that the message was sent and authorized by the owner of a domain.
Implementation
After verifying your email address, follow these steps to implement the DKIM records:
Head to 'Settings' from left menu bar of the App.
Under the 'Email' section on the page, click "Customize email".
A banner 'DKIM Verification' will be visible on the page.
Click on 'Download Records' to download the DKIM records and follow the instructions below to set it up.
The DKIM records will be in the format as shown below:
After you receive the CNAME records you need to add them to your domain's DNS settings. If you're not familiar with CNAME records, contact your domain host, who can help you. To add the CNAME record to your domain host, follow the steps below. See your domain host’s documentation for more specific instructions.
Go to your domain’s DNS records.
Add a record to your DNS settings, selecting CNAME as the record type.
Copy the contents of the Name column of the CSV. E.g. myc2hajp4qreukhgkr6fvoidt6ilnd47._domainkey.domain.com
Paste the copied contents into the Label or Host field with your DNS records.
Copy the contents of the Value column. E.g. myc2hajp4qreukhgkr6fvoidt6ilnd47.dkim.amazonses.com
Paste the copied contents into the Destination or Target field with your DNS records.
Save your record. CNAME record changes can take up to 72 hours to go into effect, but typically they happen much sooner.
Please note that it is mandatory to add all 3 CNAME records into your DNS settings.
We understand that each domain provider has different settings to enter the records we provide. The steps to enter the records for common domain providers are mentioned below.
Google - When entering records into the Name column on Google, it's not necessary to include "domain.com". This is how it would look: xxxxxxxx._domainkey
Namecheap - When entering records into the Name column on Namecheap, it's not necessary to include "domain.com". This is how it will look: xxxxxxxx._domainkey
Shopify - When entering records into the Name column in Shopify, it's not necessary to include "domain.com". This is how your Name column should look: xxxxxxxx._domainkey
Squarespace - When entering records into the Name column in Shopify, it's not necessary to include "domain.com". This is how your Name column should look: xxxxxxxx._domainkey
